In May 2025, Machine Design ran an article on how smart power transmission components are getting smarter. For the brake section of the article, Brian Mather, Ogura’s Vice President and Sales Manager, supplied content talking about how PWM power supplies are reducing brake energy without sacrificing performance. He also discussed how smart controls can determine if a brake is on or off through electronic feedback versus an older style limit switch. Ogura also provided pictures for a robotic arm installation, a micro brake and a high torque elevator brake.
